Abdominal examination

The doctor palpates the bulge in your abdomen to determine the position of the baby and to know whether the head has descended prior to labor. Fundal height corresponding to the fetal growth is measured.

Fetal heart rate is measured by putting over your abdomen.

To assess fetal growth and decide as to whether labor has to be induced , you can be subjected to an ultrasound examination.

Hi, i am 13 weeks pregnant now. I have missed taking folic acid tablets that is prescribed during my first trimester many times. Will that affect the growth of baby of health in any way.

questioner

I am 30 years and late for my periods like 7 days.(usually i have irregular periods ranging from 30 to 37 days). I was sexually active from 30th day of my cycle. Could i be pregnant? i did the home test and found to be negative.

Kelechi

Considering the date you were sexually active, it is likely that you are not pregnant. 7 days delay is not enough for you to conclude, you need to wait for 10-12days before conclusion. However, the test is necessary.

Hi, I'm 38 years old and suspect that I'm pregnant 'coz I'm a week delayed. My LMP was 02/13/10 and I was waiting for my next period to arrive on 03/15/10 but it didn't. I'm afraid to do home PT because several years ago, I was a month delayed and my period came when I was about to do home PT and felt depressed. I feel weak lately and not much of an appetite for breakfast and looking for food that would satisfy me. In case, this would be my first pregnancy after 9 years of marriage.
