Frequently asked questions about Tetanus

1. Can I prevent tetanus completely?

Sometimes tetanus may occur after or in spite of active and passive immunization. Nevertheless the aim is to provide as much protection as possible.

2. Can tetanus be caused by any other way other than wounds?

Tetanus may occur following abortion. Ear may be a rare route of entry. In Tetanus neonatorum the infection affects new born infants through the umbilical stump.
