Essentials of good sleep

If we have gone through all the sleep stages and achieved adequate amounts of deep sleep then we have objectively achieved good sleep.

If for some reason the sleep pattern is interrupted repeatedly, then we fail to reach the deeper stages of sleep. The best guide would be our own subjective assessment; if we wake up well refreshed and alert then we have achieved our goal.
