Labels on fruit juices can be extremely confusing and tricky for the consumer. Before buying a particular product, it is important for you to understand how much “real” fruit juice is actually present in the product.

Fruit Drink: Fruits drinks have very little to do with the real fruit juice. They contain only 5 percent of the actual fruit juice and the rest is water, sugar, artificial flavors, and artificial coloring.

Sugar-Free Juice: This means that sugar has not been added to the juice. However, real juices naturally contain sugar. So, diabetics and weight watchers should not fall for this as “sugar-free” doesn’t mean they are calorie free as well.

"100 % vitamin C": Some fruit drinks come with this label This label implies that the beverage is a fruit drink with added vitamin C (ascorbic acid).

“100 % Fruit Juice”: This means the juice is 100 percent natural with no added sugar or flavoring.

Flavored Fruit Juice”: This label means that there is no fruit juice in the drink. Flavored fruit juice is made of artificial flavor of a particular fruit and loaded with sugar.
