New India Assurance’s Senior Citizens Mediclaim Policy allows the maximum insurance of Rs. 1.5 lakhs. This policy also offers limited hospitalization cover for alternative treatments like Ayurveda, Homeopathy or Unani, provided the treatment is taken in a Government Hospital. Salient Features

  • The policy is available for person between the age of 60 to 80 years.
  • The sum insured per person is Rs. 1 Lakh or Rs. 1.5 Lakh.
  • 5% Cumulative bonus is allowed on every claim free (renewal) year. Limit maximum of 30%.
  • 10% Family Discount is available in case spouse is also covered.
  • Limited cover for hospitalization in government Ayurvedic/Homeopathic and Unani hospitals.
The New India Assurance - Senior Citizens Mediclaim Policy
  • Senior Citizens holding current mediclaim policy can on renewal migrate to Senior Citizen mediclaim policy for Sum Insured of Rs. 1 Lakh or for Rs. 1.5 Lakh.
  • Pre-existing conditions like covered only after 18 months of continuous insurance with our Company. Pre-existing conditions like Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus and its complications are covered after 18 months of continuous insurance, but only on payment of additional premium.
  • Reimbursement of coast of Health Check once in block of 4 claims-free years.
  • Income Tax Benefit under Section 80D of IT Act.

I am 81 years. I am a mediclaim policy holder for the last more than 20 yrs. I want to renew my policy with The New India Assurance Ltd. but I am going to become a citizen of a foreign country shortly. I do hope this will not be a hindrance to renew as I am a resident of India because I remained in India for more than 365 days in the preceding 4 years an I am going to remain in India for more than 4 months in this financial year. I am also going to apply for OCI in India.
