Glossary

Brachial neuritis: Also known as brachial neuropathy or Parsonage-Turner Syndrome, this is a rare condition in which the brachial nerves become inflamed, following injury, which often causes severe pain in the shoulders.

Hemiplegia: Paralysis of one side of the body.

Ischemic stroke: A type of stroke that occurs when the arteries to the brain become narrowed or blocked resulting in reduced oxygen supply (ischemia) to the brain.

Paraplegia: Paralysis of the lower limbs.

Quadriplegia: Paralysis of all four limbs and torso.

Varicella-zoster virus (VZV): A highly contagious virus that causes chicken pox, characterized by itchy, blister-like rashes on the skin.
