1. What should I understand from my electromyography results?

2. What diseases can be detected with the help of electromyography?

EMG test is used for detecting problems related to your muscles when at rest or during activity. The test can detect various motor diseases, neuromuscular diseases, nerve damage and degenerative conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cervical spondylosis, muscular dystrophy, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, Guillain-Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis, polymyositis, radial nerve dysfunction and peripheral neuropathy.

3. Should OTC (over the counter) medications be stopped before the procedure?

Before the start of the process your physician needs to be notified if you are taking any over the counter medicines such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen or naproxen.
