Glossary
Biomarkers: Substances sometimes found in an increased amount in the blood, other body fluids, or tissues and that may suggest the presence of some types of cancer. Biomarkers include CA 125 (ovarian cancer), CA 15-3 (breast cancer), CEA (ovarian, lung, breast, pancreas, and GI tract cancers), and PSA (prostate cancer). Also called tumor markers.Exogenous: Arising from outside of the body
Toxin: A poisonous substance
Nephrotic syndrome: Symptoms that result from damage to the filtering units of the kidney
Necrosis: Changes due to death of cells or organs
