Glossary

Achilles Tendon: A tough band of fibrous tissue that connects the calf muscles to the heel bone or calcaneus.

Gas Chromatography: A chromatography used for separating and analyzing compounds that can be vaporized without decomposition.

Mass Spectrometry: An analytical technique that involves ionization of chemical species and separation of the ions based on their mass-to-charge ratio.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR): A molecular biology technique that amplifies DNA molecules across several orders of magnitude.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): A procedure that uses electric current to stimulate the nerves for therapeutic purposes.
