 You may be Piling on the Pounds by Eating White Bread
Researchers from University of Navarra in Spain suggest that rather than helping you lose weight, white bread may instead be contributing to obesity.

The researchers conducted their study on a group of 9,200 Spanish graduates, tracking them over a period of five years and found that while those who ate both white and whole grain bread did not gain any weight, eating just white bread for an average of two or more portions every day increased the risk of obesity by as much as 40 percent.

"Consumption of white bread [of] two portions per day or more showed a significant direct association with the risk of becoming overweight or obese", the authors said. The study will be presented at the European Congress on Obesity in Bulgaria.
