Yoga and Homeopathy Shake Hands at Bajaj Auto
‘From Sensation to Synergy’ is a mega seminar on homeopathy that will be conducted on January 10th and 11th at Bajaj Auto’s headquarters near Pune. It will be chaired by Dr. Rajan Sankaran. He is a global thinker on homeopathic system of medicine. It is expected that about 500 doctors and students will be present at the session.
Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto holds immense passion for science. He declares with least hesitation that Dr. Sankaran is the best of homeopaths in the world. “He is truly the pioneer and has taken it forward which includes all the latest advances in the last 20 years. He is now our doctor and a very close friend,” says Rajiv Bajaj.

‘Prana’ has been set up recently to combine yoga and homeopathy. It is the first of its kind in the world. The passion for science has brought both fields together through this center.

Dr. Rajan runs his very own institute ‘The Other Song’ (TOS) in Mumbai and Bajaj Auto supports Prana, the Pune initiative.

At Prana, the patient first consults a homeopath and gets suitable remedies for his ailment. After which, he can take a walk to meet the yoga expert who will suggest appropriate pranayamas or asanas to practice. This may involve changes in daily diet. “By combining the homeopathic remedy and the asanas, you can become a healthier person,” Bajaj says.

When asked Rajiv Bajaj about his source of inspiration, he mentions BKS Iyengar in Pune who recently passed away. “He was my teacher and his student, Amit Pawar, is now my teacher and looks after the yoga side of Prana,” he says.

“There is no doctor like Dr Rajan and his ability to get it right the first time is unbelievable. To talk to him for an hour is an experience. This was equally true for Guruji,” Bajaj says.

Both places, Prana and TOS insist on creating high-quality teachers and doctors. People will begin to take it as vital if results become repeatable. The survival of this science depends greatly on the success of results. This calls for best practises from teacher and doctors.

“Guruji’s entire emphasis was to create good teachers of yoga. Dr Rajan’s (emphasis), beyond research and treatment of patients, is to train and educate good homeopaths,” Bajaj says.

There is one challenge in this pursuit. Since the combination of yoga and homeopathy is an artistic process, it looks into individualism. This can cause homeopaths to err with growth and almost all things become commercial. “By definition, artistic things cannot be scaled up like mechanical things be it pizzas, burgers, gyms, fitness centres and the like,” Bajaj says.

“They try to scale up homeopathy on the lines of allopathy but it cannot be done. It requires understanding the person for which the skills required are so intricate and subtle with so many nuances that it is much tougher and will take years,” Bajaj says.
