For taking sick leaves, people think out a wide variety of excuses. Some are believable and some not so believable.

Global recruitment agency CareerBuilder has brought out an annual list of shocking sick day excuses.

One of the excuses being an employee calling in sick with the excuse that his false teeth flew out of the window while he was driving down the highway, another classic was that an employee's favourite football team lost on Sunday so he/she needed a day to recover, the Mirror reported.

Trying to quit smoking and being grouchy was also one of the best ones.

Another came up with an explanation that was not very believable but was very creative that a swarm of bees surrounded his/her vehicle and they couldn't make it in.

Nearly 75% of pregnant women take sick leave from work at some point during their pregnancy, according to a new survey of 2,918 pregnant women conducted by Stavanger University Hospital in Norway.
