Fear of going blind and a bleak future seemed to loom large on the minds of many victims of Glaucoma, the second leading cause of blindness. An interview with patients of glaucoma by a team from Fudan University in Shanghai revealed that many of them undergo severe psychological problems.
Victims also worried about how this disease may impact other family members, as it can also be hereditary.
Patients felt at a loss when their intraocular pressure rose and was difficult to manage. They were tense if their medication was having the desired effect.
Most victims found the information available on the internet contradictory, which also caused a lot of confusion among patients. Many did not even know how to administer eye drops correctly.
