 World Heart Day Doctors’ Rally Organized by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals
World Heart Day which falls on Sunday, September 26, has spurred a spate of events across the world to stress the importance of staying ‘heart healthy’. Glenmark, a leading global, integrated pharmaceutical company organized a Doctors’ Rally in Chennai, South India, on Friday to create awareness on World Heart Day. The event served as a platform to encourage the general public to have a regular check on their lifestyle and health conditions. The rally was flagged off in 10 other cities across India simultaneously yesterday.
The Doctors’ rally attended by over 50 doctors, patients and many others started and ended at Bharathi Raja Hospital, T. Nagar, Chennai. At the conclusion of the rally event there was a by a Patient Education Seminar led by doctors, followed by a health check up camp.

Awareness sessions on the do’s and don’ts of hypertension, simple steps to take care of the heart, features on balanced diet and other important information related to Hypertension and Diabetes formed part of the event. Free check-up for blood pressure, diabetes and Microalbuminuria test on high risk patients were offered at the health check up camp. Newly detected patients were given starter sample packs like Telma/ Telma H/ Telma AM along with a patient education leaflet.

Dr. K. Manoj Kumar, Intervention Cardio, spoke on the measures that could be taken to prevent hypertension. He raised awareness on the need to exercise and stay fit in order to have a healthy heart.
