World Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Day: Today, Together We are Treated, Tomorrow We Need Cure
World Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Day is observed on 22nd September to raise awareness about the condition. The theme for this year´s World CML Day is "Today, Together, Today, together we are treated. Tomorrow, we need cure!"
The day is celebrated on 22nd September because 9/22 represents the chromosomal translocation between 9 and 22 (Philadelphia Chromosome). CML patient organizations in 30 countries marked September 22nd as the World CML day.

Following the motto "All united, all unique", their aim is to raise public awareness about CML and provide information on the journey of CML patients, their needs and challenges.

CML is a rare hematological disease that represents 15 to 20 percent of all leukemia cases in adults.

CML Day is an opportunity to spread the word and raise the profile of cancer in people’s minds, in the world’s media, and on the global health and development agenda.

"WORLD CML DAY (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) is observed make a difference in the fight against cancer. If CML patients take medicine regularly with regular monitoring this cancer can be controlled successfully with the hope of CURE in the near future," said Dr. Sadashivudu Gundeti, Additional Professor NIMS hospital.
