Working for 11-hours per day as compared to the standard 7-8hours increases a person’s risk of heart attack by 67%.
Working for extra hours in the office can increase the risk of heart
disease, say researchers at the University College London (UCL). The study has
shown that working for 11-hours per day as compared to the standard 7-8hours
increases a person’s risk of heart attack by 67%.
This study could be useful for general practitioners (GP’s) while assessing
a patient’s risk of heart disease along with other indicators like blood
pressure, diabetes and smoking habits. Similarly this information could also be
a wake-up call for people who over exert themselves.
The findings of the study have been published in Annals of Internal
Medicine.
