Women Rely on Cosmopolitan for Love Advice
A new survey has found that women between the age of 18 and 40 years are sexting more than ever. Additionally, Facebook and other social media are viewed to play a heavy influence on their love lives.
According to an online survey conducted last month, nearly half of women, at 43 percent, admitted 'sexting' or sending a text message on their cell phone containing suggestive and highly explicit sexual language.

Of those women, 65 percent said they limit these kinds of texts to only serious relationships while 36 percent of casual daters polled said they sent them after just a few dates.

In nude photos sent by email or text by the women surveyed, 27 percent admitted to having done it one time or another.

Explaining modesty, as the report says, as being "no longer a virtue in contemporary society" the annual Romance Report by publisher Harlequin showed a clear focus on technology's involvement in romance today in both the survey's themed questions and results.

Of the 1,5000 single women surveyed in the United States between 18 and 40 years of age, outside their cell phones and email, they also displayed a heavy influence of Facebook and other media influences in their love lives.

Those who identified themselves as heavy Facebook users, spending roughly 10 hours per week or more on the site, the majority at 61 percent placed more weight and attention on their love life than others who spent less time on the site.

Whether a woman spent 5 or 10 hours a week on the site, however, 52 percent of the total survey takers admitted to using Facebook to research a prospective first date.

"Surprisingly 52 percent of women surveyed aged 25 to 35 have never participated in online dating," the Daily Mail quoted the report as saying.

Of outside influences, media, not their mothers or friends, despite 89 percent of the women saying they use Facebook dominantly to read about other people's lives, made up the top five sources women refer to for romance advice according to the survey.

In order of their frequency, magazine Cosmopolitan came in at number one, with the movie 'The Notebook' in second, Dr. Phil the talk-show host at number three, Oprah at number four, and TV show 'Millionaire Matchmaker' placing fourth.
