Researchers are reporting that women who go on a diet manage to hold out for 19 days, but lose steam thereafter. They also indicated that women usually went on a diet at least three times a year
Chocolate, crisps wine were the most common temptations to break the diet of women. To top it all, women spend £161.75 on gyms, magazines, slimming clubs and exercise clothes during each phase of the diet. Of this, £6.06 is spent on fitness books and magazines and £10.86 for joining specialist slimming clubs. Gym memberships cost £18.90 while £18.98 will be spent on home exercise equipment.

Some £36.38 will be spent on exercise clothes and trainers, while £43.16 will be spent on food.

Tina Clare, of www.engagemutual.com told The Mirror that women needed to embark on a realistic routine to lose weight. "Rather than embark on expensive diets and impossible fitness regimes which are hard to maintain, it is better to introduce long term lifestyle changes which will have lasting benefit," she added.

Over 50% of those quizzed said that chocolate was the main temptation with the danger time being between 3pm and 8pm.
