To top it all, women spend £161.75 on gyms, magazines, slimming clubs and exercise clothes during each phase of the diet. Of this, £6.06 is spent on fitness books and magazines and £10.86 for joining specialist slimming clubs. Gym memberships cost £18.90 while £18.98 will be spent on home exercise equipment.
Some £36.38 will be spent on exercise clothes and trainers, while £43.16 will be spent on food.
Tina Clare, of www.engagemutual.com told The Mirror that women needed to embark on a realistic routine to lose weight. "Rather than embark on expensive diets and impossible fitness regimes which are hard to maintain, it is better to introduce long term lifestyle changes which will have lasting benefit," she added.
Over 50% of those quizzed said that chocolate was the main temptation with the danger time being between 3pm and 8pm.
