Woman Snatches 3-Day-Old Baby Boy from Bengaluru
Farida Mujib, 25, resident of Kadugodi and wife of goods autorickshaw driver Syed Mujib, was admitted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and gave birth to a baby boy the same day. But as the infant was not breathing properly, he was immediately shifted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Around 12:30 pm, the hospital staff gave the baby to Fareeda. Meanwhile, an unidentified burkha-clad woman approached her and started cuddling the baby, saying it was cute. She asked Fareeda if she could carry the baby for a while, and she obliged.

A proud Farida gave the baby to the woman and went to the restroom, and when she was back the woman and the child were gone. She realized something was amiss and called her sister-in-law Salma, who had gone to the pharmacy.

When the family couldn't find the baby, she informed the hospital authorities, who checked on the premises and could not find the woman. They alerted the Bowring Hospital outpost police, who in turn informed the Commercial Street police station.

The CCTV camera installed in the premises has captured a shot of the woman walking away with the baby. She had come to the hospital wearing the burqa as she intended to snatch the baby.

It shows the woman playing with the baby for about 5 minutes in the NICU before leaving. Instead of using the lift, she used the stairs. At 12.43pm, the woman is seen reaching the main gate of Bowring hospital with nobody stopping her.

“We have obtained the footage but the video is not clear. Its quality is being enhanced. There are other clues we are working on, and will nab the woman. She had come prepared to steal a baby by covering herself in a burqa,” said a senior police officer.
