Woman Horrified After She Finds Snake in Free Couch

A US woman was horrified after she found that she had been living with a snake for the best part of two months. The 1.2 meter-long boa constrictor crawled out of a free couch picked up off the street by Michigan woman Holly Wright and her boyfriend.

"It's been living in the couch for like two months in my bedroom and I had no idea and it looks pretty big," Wright told ABC13 TV in a video of the discovery. "Sometimes my dog would sit up there, I would drink a cup of coffee, check emails - I read a few novels on this couch."

Wright added that when the snake finally crawled out, it was lethargic and died before she could take it to a vet.

The woman has subsequently buried the snake and has put up the couch outside with a "do not pick up" sign prominently displayed alongside it.
