Woman Delivers Baby Girl in Government Hospital Toilet, Abandons the New Born
A newborn was left abandoned to death in a lavatory of the Old Government General Hospital in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The incident came to light the next morning when sanitation workers were cleaning toilets in the hospital. They found the body of the newborn in the commode and alerted the hospital superintendent. Hospital Superintendent U Surya Kumari said that a baby girl’s dead body was found lying in the washroom and we immediately alerted police on the issue. The infant, a girl, reportedly died after being abandoned by her mother According to Machavaram police, the young pregnant woman was brought to the hospital in 108 ambulance with labour pains and when the hospital staff were about to prepare her for delivery, she went to toilet and did not return.

As the body was found in the toilet, it is being suspected that woman after giving birth to a baby girl in the toilet itself might have abandoned it for various reasons including the gender.

An FIR has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC and we are trying to trace her through the 108 service, which she made use of while getting admitted in the hospital. “We also learned that she was accompanied by her mother and brother,” said Machavaram police.
