Woman Affected by Swine Flu Delivers Premature Baby

A 38-year-old mother, who is said to be critically ill with swine flu has delivered a premature baby at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The baby was born at 29 weeks' gestation and is in intensive care, but is reported to be stable.

Overall 508 swine flu cases have been identified in the UK. A 44-year-old woman from Renfrewshire who is in intensive care and a women aged 23 are the other two female patients with swine flu in the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. The hospital is also caring for two men aged 45 and 37.

The swine flu virus is now in 66 countries and has caused 117 deaths across the globe.
