Winter Season Associated With Peak Sperm Production
Researchers from Ben-Gurion University have revealed that the winter season is conducive to peak sperm production in most men.
Their study 6455 semen samples from men who were treated between 2006 and 2009 at an infertility clinic. They found that sperm production increased in winter and started reducing by early spring. During spring, the sperm that were produced had lesser abnormalities and also swam faster, they reported.

The researchers also found that autumn was the season for peak production in men who had abnormal sperm production. Overall, 2,690 participants had normal sperm production, while 1,495 participants had sperm production problems in the study. Men who had normal sperm count produced 70 million sperm per milliliter during winter, a number that fell to 68 million in the next month.

The study is published in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
