Why Should a Kid Lose Five Teeth When She Went in for a Leg Op?
Six-year-old Sarah Morrison went in for surgery at UK centre Sheffield Children’s Hospital and little did she realize that instead of a surgery meant to strengthen her bones, she would come out with five of her teeth removed.
The girl suffers from brittle bone disease. Now, the parents are unhappy that they were not consulted before removing their daughter’s teeth. They have approached the cops to lodge their complaint.

Due to her condition, Sarah had suffered more than 200 broken bones. She needed to have metal rods inserted to have stronger limbs. After the surgery, when Sarah’s mom went to visit her, she found her mouth full of blood and discovered five teeth had been removed.

Dad Philip said: “They didn’t mention at any point her teeth might be taken out — it wasn’t even on the operation consent form. The hospital is adamant that baby teeth were taken. But two of them were adult teeth. I know because I have the baby teeth at home. We feel mortified and let down.”

“Five baby teeth needed to be removed while she was under general anesthetic. They were very loose and were judged to pose a serious risk to her airway. As an issue has now been raised by her parents, we will review this as we do with any concern,” said a spokesman for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust said.
