The study which sought the opinion of more than 450 newly married couples found that men appeared to be far happier with an attractive wife. Men appeared to give importance to the appearance of their spouse for marital joy. Women, on the contrary, did not rate marital satisfaction based on the appearance of their spouse.

The report said that spousal attractiveness had a major role in predicting husbands' marital satisfaction than it did in predicting wives' marital satisfaction.

Attractive wives also felt happier in their marriage when they saw their spouse happy.
