When men want a quick fling they are attracted to women with delicate and feminine features, reveals a recent study.
Fuller cheeks and a smaller jawbone are thought to enhance a woman's attractiveness and this is thought to be a symbol of good health, vitality and youthfulness.
Further, such features are connected to an elevated level of the female hormone estrogen, implying success in reproduction.
Factors in the human mating game show that when women desire a fling they prefer hunkier men and when they want to settle down they prefer the geeky ones. The latter are thought to be reliable to start a family.
"When a man has secured a mate, the potential cost of being discovered may increase his choosiness regarding short-term partners relative to unpartnered men, who can better increase their short-term mating success by relaxing their standards," wrote the study's authors.
