Associate Professor David Fonda, director of aged care at Caulfield General Medical Centre led the study and incorporated a falls prevention program into the aged care services wards of the hospital.

It found the three-year fall-prevention project significantly reduced the number of falls and falls that caused serious injury.

"Our study demonstrated that a low-cost, hospital-based multi-strategy falls-prevention program can significantly reduce the incidence of falls and fall-related serious injury among patients in aged-care wards," in the words of the authors.

This would prove beneficial in reducing costs as well as reducing falls!!!
