by Medindia Content Team on Jan 30 2006 6:02 PM

Allergic reactions can be caused by shampoos, which are also said to be connected to cancer. As many as 26 shampoos were examined, and seven of them were seen to contain halogen organic compounds which may give rise to skin allergies, according to the German magazine Oeko-Test.

Perfumes found in six of the shampoos could cause allergic reactions. Diethylphthalate, which can affect the natural protection mechanisms of the skin, was detected in some of the products.
