According to a new study eating frequently is linked to lower blood cholesterol concentrations.
When people reflect upon a healthy diet, they are normally thinking about what more than how often they have a meal. Some people eat no breakfast, they may skip lunch and then eat everything they can lay their hands on for supper. Others 'graze' through the day, while some people stick to three meals a day and no snacking between times. If these people eat the same amount, does it really matter when they eat it? Ofcourse it does, according to a new report.
Researchers at the University of England, studied the eating patterns of over 11,000 people aged between 40 and 70 years. They classified them into five categories, depending on their eating frequency and then measured their blood cholesterol. They found that those who ate six or more times a day had cholesterol levels about five per cent lower than those who just ate once or twice a day - even if they were taking in more calories and fat. Five per cent is significant and worthy of further study.
