ESMA against striking Medicos

Doctors went on strike after a clash between Uttar Pradesh Government Railway Police and Junior doctors who were returning after writing PG Medical Entrance in Meerut by Meerut Nauchandi Express lead to injuring medicos and eight police recruits. The clash occurred due to the police personnel occupying the reserved seats of the medicos.

The Medicos where on strike in seven state medical colleges for three days ordering enquiry and action against the police personnel involved in clash. The strike has lead to non-functioning of hospitals and treatment to poor coming to the government hospitals which has lead to dead of ten patients. Following this development the State Government has ordered the striking doctors to return to work by Friday morning or they would be charged with Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) leading to dismissal from service and also imprisonment.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayum Singh Yadav had a high level meeting with senior medical officers to overcome the current situation and to know the present situation of patients coming to the Government hospital.
