Telemedicine Project Implemented for Indian Railways

South Eastern Central Railway at Bilaspur, M. P. in its specialty hospital has a Telemedicine project implemented. The project was undertaken by a Bangalore based company called Televital. Now the Bilaspur Hospital is connected with two remote Railway Hospital at Raipur and Nagpur. The Telemedicine network is implemented on Optical Fiber Cable of Railway Network. , M. P. The Indian Railway has had an optical fibre network in many sections that runs parallel railways track. Almost the whole of southern Railway is so connected.

The project was inaugurated on 17th of September by Dr. Das, Director General Medical Services from the Railway Board. On the 43rd Year of the Foundation Day of the Hospital Dr. Das said that Telemedicine Facility will be implemented at other Zones of Railway and subsequently will be connected with the specialist hospitals in the country.
