New drug for breast cancer prevention produced by Arimidex

The number of breast cancer cases has reached about 1.2 million worldwide and Statistics show that the incidence of breast cancer is rapidly increasing in urban India and has overtaken cancer of the cervix as the number one cancer in our major metros according to a study conducted on women and cancer in India. Oil foods, obesity, smoking, drinking, late marriage and delayed motherhood are some factors that can lead to a high risk of breast cancer.

The new drug that is being manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Arimidex is said to prevent occurrence of recurrence of breast cancer after surgery. Arimidex claims that its new drug is 26% more effective than the current drugs in preventing breast cancer recurrence. The Breast Cancer Care Scotland his very happy and it expressed that it will be helpful for women in Scotland with breast cancer. The new drug, which has been approved by Scottish Medicines Consortium, is yet to get approved for general use in England. The new drug will be very helpful for all post-menopausal women with early breast cancer as the drug has to be taken after surgery and it significantly reduces the occurrence of recurrence breast cancer.
