To have a good health, it is necessary to have the right kind of exercise and a proper diet. Dr Eric Ravussin of the Pennington Biomedical Research Centre, of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge divulged this information.

According to Ravussin and his team, who conducted a research on the human body during exercise and dieting, one cannot lose weight selectively on the abdomen or on the thigh. Body metabolism also cannot be improved by adding muscle mass. When it comes to energy deficit, it plays a vital role in the abdominal fat, body weight and fat weight.

Ravussin used this study to find out if dieting is linked to longevity of life. Though this was shown to be true in worms and dogs, human study takes a very long time to arrive at a result.

Ravussin’s team had divided their volunteers into two groups –one group consumed a caloried diet and the other group exercised five times a week besides dieting. At the end of the study, volunteers lost 27% of their abdominal fat, 24% of their fat mass and 10% of their body weight. This study has also disclosed that spot reduction is an impossible task and fat storage in body is genetically controlled.
