Beijing: A human case of bird flu was confirmed in China by the health ministry Wednesday.
A 37-year-old farmer in east China's Anhui province had contracted the H5N1 strain of bird flu, said the ministry.The man developed fever and pneumonia Dec 10 and was discharged from hospital Jan 6 after a full recovery, the ministry said.
The Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Monday that the man tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain. It is the first human bird flu case reported on the Chinese mainland this winter.
