Trauma Centres on NH-5 in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa

Under the scheme 'Assistance for capacity Building', Ministry of Health and Family Welfare provides financial assistance upto a maximum of Rs. 1.50 crores or actual, whichever is less, for upgradation and strengthening of emergency facilities of State Hospitals of towns/cities located on National Highways. Meetings are regularly conducted with NHAI, Department of Road Transport and Highways and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) regarding development of Trauma Centers in MoH&FW's scheme.

One hospital each at Vishakhapatnam and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh have been given assistance during 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively for upgradation and strengthening of emergency facilities of hospital. As regards the State of Orissa, one hospital at Behrampur has been given assistance during 2006-07 under this scheme.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Shri K.H. Muniyappa in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
