Scientists Trace the Roots of the World's Healthiest Wines

Traditional red wines that belong to the vineyards of France and Italy are decidedly the best for health, scientists say.

The bad effects of fatty meals on the heart can be offset by red wine from South West of France, a novel study has shown. Wines from these regions contain high levels of a chemical, known to aid cardiovascular health.

Earlier studies have also proved the heart healthy benefits of a daily glass of red wine. Infact, moderate drinkers of red wine, score better at health over non drinkers. This protective effect is due to the presence of antioxidant chemicals called polyphenols, which give a protective cover for the blood vessels.
