Oncology Drug Pemnat Launched By NATCO

Natco Pharma Ltd, based in Hyderabad, India, has announced the launch of a generic version of Pemetrexed a drug used to treat certain types of lung cancer. A very costly preparation, Pemnat is priced at Rs 25,500 a vial. However the imported version of the same medication, costs a whopping Rs 79,000.

This marks the launch of the first ever generic version of Pemetrexed, in the global arena. The drug Pemetrexed was formulated before 1995.The Company is quite sure that this new generic version will not get entangled in any litigation issues whatsoever.

The company, in a news release, has informed that, Pemnat will be invaluable to lung cancer patients in whom curative surgery may not help. It ca be used to treat non-small cell lung cancer and certain types of malignant pleural mesothelioma (cancer affecting lining of lungs).The medicine, is available in 20 ml vials in the market for a single injection. It should be administered after chemotherapy, said the company.
