Men More Bothered By Flu

Yes! That is what a survey by the Nuts magazine reveals. 'Man flu' is that mysterious phenomenon in which men become helpless whereas, the same viruses 'barely seem to affect their female counterparts.' November is the worst month for 'man flu' because one in six get it then.

The survey discovered that 64 per cent of Flu –afflicted men last winter, had to stay at home forcibly and miss work. ..

On the other hand, only 45 per cent of women faced this situation.. The survey also revealed that men fuss a lot more and take twice as long as women to get over the flu. On an average, men show a three-day recovery period whereas women need only two. Yet another interesting point is that , each winter, men spend more, on medications, than women (do)!.

The Nuts survey bared another truth : that men generally believe bed rest is the best treatment for the flu; while women feel that keeping active and fighting it off is the ideal way combat it.

But both sexes did agree on one thing :they believed that chicken soup was the best home remedy! However, Prof. Ron Eccles of the Common Cold Centre, Cardiff University, disagrees. He is quoted in the Mirror as saying, 'It is the ladies who fall sick more.: This is because women have more contact with children - normally the main source of infection.'
