Probing Into the Reasons for Alarming Increase in Breast Cancer

London: Breast Cancer is the most notorious of cancers, going by the United Kingdom statistics. Evidently, of all the cancers diagnosed in women, one out of three cases happens to be of the breast.

The present modern day living is being blamed for this alarming increase in cancer. The present record for breast cancer is 36,939 cases in the United Kingdom, which shows that the incidence of cancer is up since 1971 by almost 81%.

Breast Cancer seems to have almost every age group in its clutches. The rise in breast cancer is attributed to the deep influences on the hormone, oestrogen, which is quite at the receiving end of fluctuations and changes in diet and reproduction. With an increase in nutritive food, girls attain menarche much earlier, consequently menopause also arrives much later.

Money power enjoyed by many has also led to smaller nuclear families, even late motherhood and lesser breastfeeding, especially in homes where women support the family income by going out to work. And finally, evolved procedures of cancer screening and systematic recording procedures have led to accurate statistics, which in the previous years may have escaped attention.
