Maggots in a hospital ward!!

by Medindia Content Team on Sep 22 2006 12:35 PM

Maggots were found crawling on the surgical ward floor in a Scottish hospital. The patients were subsequently moved out of the ward at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.

According to pest control experts, a dead bird on the ward’s roof was responsible for the infestation. NHS Grampian said that the ward was thoroughly cleaned and the patients could return after the clinicians gave the all-clear.

An NHS Grampian spokesman said: "There was no health risk to patients. "Measures are being taken to prevent birds from getting access again."
