Over 5,000 people camped overnight in Downsview Park Saturday night in spite of wet and cold conditions to help battle breast cancer.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer Walk set a new fundraising record by raising $17.2 million for Princess Margaret Hospital.

The two-day, 60-kilometer walk is the largest single-event fundraiser in Canadian history.

The walkers clad in pink walkers are on the last leg of their journey Sunday and are making their way back to Exhibition Grounds for a closing ceremony at the Direct Energy Centre.

Along the route friends and family members are encouraged to cheer on the participants at cheering stations along the route.

The record breaking funds, the large turnout and community awareness has thrilled organizers. Paul Alofs, President & CEO of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation said, "We're so grateful to the 5,382 courageous women and men walking this weekend, and to all the volunteers, Donors, and truly the entire community for their amazing support."

This two day event has been held in the past three years also.
