Michael John Neal, 48, of Coburg, Melbourne, who is HIV positive, is in the ring after accusations of being condom phobic have been heaped on him. The fear of using condoms led him to engage in unprotected sex willfully, with several male partners and thus became a transmitter of the disease.
The man in question has been slapped with 30 or more charges, which also includes a grave intention of inflicting a very serious disease on other unwitting partners. Three doctors who have been treating Neal gave evidence against him in the Melbourne Magistrates Court.The evidence described Neal as suffering condom phobia and yet displayed a love for risk taking behavior. A few more rounds of hearing is yet to take place before the verdict is announced.
