US health officials have issued serious warnings against the use of products containing high-strength hydrogen peroxide which are sold online.
These products are mainly sold to treat the disease AIDS. The 35 % hydrogen peroxide products are highly corrosive and consuming them leads to stomach irritation and ulcers.The Food and Drug Administration also said that intravenous injections of such products would result in blood vessel inflammation, bubbles in blood vessels and potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.
The FDA has warned two Texas-based firms, DFWX and Frad 35 Inc., as they are illegally selling 35 % hydrogen peroxide products to treat AIDS, cancer, emphysema and other serious diseases.
