The Tamil Nadu Government should consider Medical Council of India seniority on appointment in Government Hospitals, 'Doctors Association for Social Equality' said today.
Talking to reporters here Association General Secretary, Dr G R Ravindranath, said according to a survey, about 34,000 doctors are unemployed in India in which 9,000 were in Tamil Nadu. When the state government is recruiting doctors for government health services, the government should consider the MCI seniority than the employment seniority, he said.The state government should establish medical college in Dharmapuri, he said.
While taking steps to upgrade the Salem-Mohankumaramangalam Government Medical College on par with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the Centre should also consider Tiruchirappalli K A P Viswanatham government medical college's upgradation which was announced by the BJP government in 2003, he said.
The state government should take steps to start post-graduate courses in non-clincical sciences.
The Centre should bring in an amendment to ensure that Health was also included as basic rights of human beings.
