'Drug Action Week', A Massive Work By GCH Center

'Drug action week' an awareness camp held at the Grampians Community Health Centre has made people to be more alert about alcohol and other drugs .

Educating people about the adverse effects of some drugs and alcohol were also being carried out by the GCH center.

Problems related to health, social, economical, familial and community factors all in some way happens with drug misuse in every community. So, in the idea of guiding people, Grampians Community Health Centre has conducted some activities related to adverse drug action and its effects on the body.

The themes and activities took part in the 'Drug Action Week' includes Harm minimization and control, Prevention, Treatment, Indigenous people, and Workforce.

People, who have problems on prescribed drugs or alcohol dependency can get the new service offered by Grampians Community Health Centre.

When stopped suddenly the withdrawal effects are worse to cause problems like trouble with sleeping, anxiety, restlessness, physical shaking and willing to re-use the drugs.

Self-involvement and ongoing support from home are the main things needed to combat withdrawal of any drug or alcohol.

A display on alcohol and other drugs like prescribed medicines, tobacco, sleep pills, etc were made as a part of Drug Action Week by the Grampians Community Health Centre at the Main Street, Stawell to create awareness among the community.
