The doctors in Toronto are desperately trying to reattach the foot of a four-year-old boy. The boy had lost his foot in a freak accident that involved his father riding over him on a lawn mover.
According to York Region police the boys father had been riding a lawn mower when the boy came up unexpectedly behind him. Constable Laurie Perks explained that the father had put the mower into reverse and accidentally ran over the boy's leg. It was explained that his father had stopped the mower to clean the blades, and was following the practice of cleaning out the blades by going into reverse and going forward again.

It was at this time that the 4-year old had come up behind him and somehow his foot got caught in the mower's blades. The boy was airlifted to the Hospital for Sick Children, where surgeons are optimistic they can successfully reattach the boy's foot.
The Child-safety officials at Sick Kids say there have been four cases where children have been injured by lawn mowers in the last six weeks. This sudden increase in lawn mower accidents has hospital officials calling for more supervision of children when adults are cutting the grass. The police are urging close supervision of children whenever machines are involved.
