
The Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act is to be enforced strictly in Kerala to check female foeticide, State Health Minister P K Sreemathi said today.
Addressing reporters here, she said there was cause for concern as the sex ratio in the state, which was healthy at one time, had become unfavourable now.

Sreemathi, who was a member of the advisory committee monitoring the implementation of the PNDT Act, said the previous government did not do anything to convene its meetings.
She said stringent action would be taken against scanning centres violating rules prescribed in the Act.Though there had not been serious complaints in the state, the government would take effective steps if any violation was detected, she said.
