IMA, Punjab, Gives Call For Medical Bandh On May 25

The Punjab chapter of Indian Medical Association today called a statewide medical bandh on May 25 to protest the Centre's move to provide reservation for OBCs in elite educational institutions.

At an emergency meeting of the state executive body of IMA presided by President Dr G S Gill, the members unanimously passed a resolution condemning police action against medicos in Delhi, Mumbai and Patna.

IMA members criticized the UPA government for pursuing vote-bank politics and said it as an attempt to divide the society on caste basis, an IMA press release said.
