Madhya Pradesh Govt Plans To Open New Medical College

The Madhya Pradesh government has increased its health budget by over 30 percent for the current fiscal to upgrade hospitals and open a new medical college.

"In a bid to provide better medical facilities, the government has increased the medical education department budget to about Rs.1.52 billion. This is 30.97 percent more than the previous year's Rs.1.16 billion," an official said.

"The government not only plans to provide more funds for the purchase of medicines and equipments, but also modernise hospitals attached with the five medical colleges in the state," he said.

"Besides, the government plans to purchase new cushions, bed sheets and blankets for patients."

A new medical college will come up in Sagar. It would be the first new hospital in the state in 42 years. A total of Rs.50 million has been reserved for this.
