
Students across various schools and colleges on Saturday formed a human chain here to spread awareness about environment conservation among the masses, and vowed to conserve the forests.
Students gathered at Maldahiya crossroad and walked till Sigra crossroad of the city forming a human chain.
Interacting with mediapersons, Shashikant Tiwari, a participant said that forming a human chain was the best possible way to spread awareness among people.
The students raised slogans and flashed placards, urging people to plant trees.
Another participant, Ashtha Singh said the students had pledged to plant trees.
"We have taken the pledge that we will plant trees," Singh said.
As per the data of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Global greenhouse gas emissions could rise 50 percent by 2050 without more ambitious climate policies, as fossil fuels continue to dominate the energy mix.
The global economy in 2050 will be four times larger than today and the world will use around 80 percent more energy.
